pet peeve: when the main character is always the most boring character in a series bc the creator is writing them to be as broadly appealing as possible. LET YOUR MAIN CHARACTER BE A UNIQUE AND INTERESTING PERSON PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU

The only time this “insert yourself in the protagonists shoes” type of character works is when it’s in a video game, due to the interactive format of the medium. Otherwise I hate this trope too and wish we had more interesting protagonists out there.
